9×12 in. oil on primed linen panel, painted en plein air at Maroon Lake, CO.
Morning light during peak fall hits differently at Maroon Bells, CO. Standing as one of the most photographed spots in all of Colorado, these mountains deserve all of the praise they get. As an artist, this journey started by leaving my house at 2:00AM to drive four hours to Aspen, CO, where I painted from around 8:00AM to 4:00PM with a group of friends, and driving the four hours back home right after. It was all worth it to experience and paint the bells, and to meet all of the wonderful people who stopped by and watched us paint.
Studio changes included bringing the water back to the morning reflections to match the lighting and mood we experienced during the alpenglow.
It was an absolutely beautiful day, with some surprises that you can read about on my blog! See the full story and some behind-the-scenes footage on my Instagram page.
Custom, ready-to-hang framing available upon request. Shipping is included.
